Jaguar XK120 Drop Head Coupe £78,500.00
1953 Jaguar XK120 Drop Head Coupe left hand drive and originally exported to the USA. In the early 1990s the car returned to Europe with the current owner purchasing the vehicle in 1998.
There is not much history with the car and there are no records of the restoration works which are believed to have been carried out in the US prior to the car being exported to Europe.
We have carried out a complete inspection of this car and save for a few general service items the vehicle is in excellent condition. The chassis and body are excellent and appear to be rust free, chassis could do with cavity waxing just to add some internal protection. The exterior paint which is British Racing Green which is in excellent condition except for a few minor stone chips.
The interior is again excellent in dark Green leather including the door panels, seats are piped in light green leather. Carpets are in a tan colour and the burr walnut dash boards look fantastic. The hood is in Black mohair and in very good condition however it is just starting to go a little grey as it is some 20 years old.
This XK120 is fitted with a Stainless steel exhaust system and chrome wire wheels with Avon 185/16 radial tyres.
As this car has been used for continental touring the cooling system has been uprated with an electric cooling fan and header tank in order to cope with those inevitable traffic queues. Discreet amber indicators have been fitted to make the car more visible when turning left or right, otherwise the specification of the car is as it left Jaguar.
The car runs and drives very well and certainly gives the impression of being safe and reliable. There are no squeaks or rattles the engine is very responsive and the gearbox and clutch work well. This XK will make a great touring car and one that can be used in all weathers as the Drop Head Coupes are as practical as the Fixed Head Coupes.
